Elimination of the cause of vehicle vibration due to unbalanced drive shaft

Update:2021-01-30 00:00
Summary:

The imbalance of the vehicle drive shaft will cause a periodic noise during driving. The faster the driving speed, the louder the noise. In severe cases, it can make the car body shake, the cab vibrates, and the steering wheel will feel numb. As the body shakes, various parts of the vehicle will loosen and cause accidents. Vibration in the cab can cause cracks in the solder joints.

The reasons for vehicle shaking are:

  (1) The drive shaft is bent;

  (2) The position of the flange of the drive shaft and the shaft tube is skewed when welding;

   (3) The middle support fixing bolt is loose;

   (4) The position of the intermediate support bearing is skewed;

  (5) The universal joint is damaged and the installation is not up to the requirements;

  (6) The original balance weight on the drive shaft falls off.

The drive shaft is unbalanced, endangering safe driving. If the drive shaft is unbalanced, the following methods can be used to judge:

The front wheel of the car was plugged tightly with mats, and the middle and rear drive axles on the side of the car were jacked up with a jack; the engine was started, put in high gear, and the vibration of the drive shaft was observed. During the inspection, notice that when the speed drops, if the shimmy increases significantly, it indicates that the drive shaft is bent or the flange is skewed.

The bending of the drive shaft is the bending of the shaft tube, which is mostly caused by the overload of the car. Due to overloading and overhanging of coal-carrying vehicles, the drive shafts are bent and broken. If some trucks and trailers transport more than 60 tons of coal, the drive shaft is seriously damaged due to overload and overhang. Although the intermediate support of the transmission shaft was strengthened and the strength of the flange fork was strengthened, the failure of fracture and damage still occurred.

Replace the drive shaft components, after straightening, check the balance, and the unbalance should meet the standard requirements. The technical condition of the universal joint fork and the transmission shaft hanger should also be checked in detail. If the installation fails to meet the requirements, the cross shaft and roller damage will cause looseness and vibration, and the transmission shaft will also lose balance.
